The Kindness of Strangers

In this season of giving, I want to share a quick story that truly captures the spirit of charity and community.

This past weekend, as the holidays approached, we had the spontaneous idea of creating small gift bags for a few members of our Workforce. It wasn’t something we planned in advance, but we decided to reach out to our Instagram community with a simple ask: help us fill the gift bags. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary.

In just over a day, the kindness of strangers poured in. Donations included warm sweatshirts and socks, delicious snacks, generous gift cards, and $600 to use where it was needed most. Cars came and went from my driveway as more and more gifts arrived. What began as a modest idea—maybe a gift card or a small treat—quickly grew into something much bigger. We ended up using grocery store paper bags just to fit everything inside! By Sunday afternoon, we had everything we needed to assemble the gift bags, each filled with care and thoughtfulness.

When we handed them out, the gratitude of our Workforce members was deeply moving. These individuals, who work so hard to keep our community clean, were touched by the outpouring of kindness from strangers.

This story is a shining example of the power of community and the beauty of giving. As we celebrate this holiday season, I am filled with gratitude for everyone who made this possible.
