This March, embrace the competitive spirit of Mach Madness by joining our first ever Adopt-the-Block March Trashness event. We're challenging our community to a friendly but fierce competition to see who can net the most trash by the end of the month. For the first three weeks it will be everyone for themselves picking up as much litter as they can find. After that we will take the top 16 folks to participate in a three week bracket style competition to find our winner. Updates will be given on Fridays through email and on The Great Raleigh Cleanup’s social media. 

Categories of winners: 

  • Cleanup Champion: Adopt the Block March Trashness champion

  • Heaviest Haul Hero: Most trash collected (bags)

  • Garbage Go-Getter: Most individual cleanups completed 

  • Treasure not Trash: Most unique trash find 

Points: 

  • 1 point - bag of trash collected

  • 1 point - photo shared w/ The Great Raleigh Cleanup 

  • 5 points - share about your cleanup on social and tag @raleighcleanup 

  • 2 points - join a group cleanup

Schedule: 

  • February 28th - Sign-up deadline! 

  • March 1st - Kickoff the competition 

  • March 1st to March 21st - Everyone is in and these 3 weeks will determine who enters the 16-seed tournament.

  • March 22nd to March 28th - Sensational 16

  • March 29th to April 4th - Excellent 8

  • April 5th to 11th - Phenomenal 4

  • April 12th - Celebration and awards ceremony at local hangout
